  • पुं० [सं०] [वि० स्मरणीय, भू० कृ० स्मृत] १. किसी ऐसी देखी-सुनी या बीती हुई बात का फिर से याद आना या ध्यान होना जो बीच में भूल गई हो, या ध्यान में न रह गई हो। कोई बात फिर से याद आने की क्रिया या भाव। क्रि० प्र०–आना।–करना।–दिलाना।–रखना।–रहना।–होना। ३. भक्ति के नौ प्रकारों में से एक, जिसमें उपासक अपने इष्टदेव को बराबर याद करता रहता या मन में उसका ध्यान रखता है। ३. साहित्य में एक प्रकार का अर्थालंकार जिसमें पहले की देखी हुई कोई चीज या सुनी हुई कोई बात उसी प्रकार की कोई चीज देखने या बात सुनने पर फिर से याद आने या मन में उसका ध्यान आने का उल्लेख होता है। यथा–मैं पाता हूँ मधुर ध्वनि में गूँजने में खगों के। मीठी तानें परम प्रिय की मोहिनी वंशिका की।–अयोध्याप्रसाद उपाध्याय। विशेष–इस अलंकार को कुछ लोगों ने स्मृति भी कहा है
