  • स० [हिं० खपना का. स०] १. (कोई वस्तु) इस प्रकार उपयोग या व्यवहार में लाना कि वह समाप्त हो जाय। जैसे–इमारत के काम में लकड़ी खपाना। २. माल आदि बेच डालना। ३. अवकाश या गुंजाइश निकालना। जैसे–इस विभाग में दो-तीन आदमी खपाये जा सकते हैं। ४. तंग या परेशान करना। किसी काम या बात के लिए व्यर्थ दिक करना। ५. किसी काम में बहुत अधिक परिश्रम करके अपनी शक्ति या व्यय या ह्वास करना। जैसे–किसी काम में सिर खपाना। ६. नष्ट करना। ७. मार डालना। जैसे–डाकुओं ने यात्रियों को जंगल में ही कहीं खपा दिया।
