दिवाली के आने से पहले ही सभी लोग अपने घरों की सफ़ाई शुरू कर देते है। सफ़ाई करते समय प्रयोग किये जाने वाले कुछ शब्द -
ALLERGIC - अलर्जिक (when a person must stay away from a certain food or cleaning product because it can cause them to get very sick)
• I am allergic to dust. (मुझे धूल से एलर्जी है।)
CLEAN - साफ करना (remove dirt and stains)
• I will clean the kitchen. (मैं रसोई साफ करूंगी।)
CLOGGED/PLUGGED - अवरुद्ध या बन्द हो जाना (when something is blocking the hole of a tube or pipe)
• The kitchen drain is clogged with potato skins. (रसोई की नाली आलू के छिलकों से बंद हुआ है।)
DAMP - सीलन (a little bit wet)
• The house reeked of mould and damp. (घर से फफूंद और सीलन की बदबू आ रही थी।
DIRTY - गंदा (covered or marked with an unclean substance)
• The floors are dirty because the kids walked through with their boots on. (फर्श गंदे हैं क्योंकि बच्चों ने अपने जूतों के साथ इनके पर से चले गए थे।)
DUSTY - धूल से भरा हुआ (covered with a small layer of matter/ dust)
• The office furniture is very dusty. (कार्यालय फर्नीचर बहुत धूल से भरे हैं।)
FILTHY - बहुत ही गंदा/ घिन आने की सीमा तक (very dirty)
• The bathroom is filthy. I can't go inside. (बाथरूम बहुत ही गन्दा है। मैं अंदर नहीं जा सकता।)
MESSY अस्तव्यस्त (out of order)
• The children left their room messy. (बच्चों ने अपना कमरा अस्तव्यस्त छोड़ दिया।)
