Portmanteau word (पोर्ट्मैन्टो - मिश्रशब्द) word is a combination of two or more words into one new word.
A portmanteau word typically combines both sounds and meanings. (मिश्रशब्द दो या दो से अधिक शब्दों का संयोजन कर एक नया शब्द बनाता है। यह आमतौर पर ध्वनि और अर्थ दोनों को जोड़ता है।)
इस शब्द का प्रयोग Lewis Carroll (लुईस कैरोल) द्वारा पहली बार "Through the Looking-Glass" book में किया गया था।
