Phrasal Verbs with ‘CALL’ - 1


Call in -

To phone (फोन करना)

I will call in whenever I have a chance. (मेरे पास जब भी मौका होगा मैं फ़ोन करूंगा।)

to request that someone come to have a talk (बुलाना)

The board called the manager in for a private meeting. (बोर्ड में एक निजी बैठक के लिए प्रबंधक में बुलाया।)

To ask someone to enter a room (निमंत्रण देना)

My boss called me in to his office yesterday morning to give me a warning because I came to work late three times this week.

to formally request (usually by mail) that something be returned (वापस लेना)

The car company called many cars back in for repairs. (कार कंपनी ने कई कारों को मरम्मत के लिए वापस किया।)

to ask someone to help (सहायता के लिए बुलाना)

The mayor called in the police to provide extra security for the conference. (मेयर ने सम्मेलन की अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा की सहायता के लिए पुलिस को बुलाया।)

Call off

To cancel an organised event (रद्द करना)

The concert had to be called of because the singer went down with flu. (संगीत कार्यक्रम को रद्द करना पड़ा क्योंकि गायक फ्लू के कारण बिमार हो गया।)

To stop doing an activity (रोकना)

They called off the engagement ceremony at the last minute. (उन्होंने अंतिम क्षण में सगाई की रस्म रोक दी।)
