Use of THE-

ऐसे देश के नाम के साथ जिनमे kingdom, states or republican नाम आता हो जैसे -The United States

ऐसी countries जिनके नाम plural हो जैसे - The Netherlands

River, canals, और oceans के नाम के साथ जैसे - The Gangas

Families के नाम के साथ जैसे –The Ranas

Only से पहले The का प्रयोग तभी किया जाता है
जब sentence में only का इस्तेमाल “एकलौता” ऐसे कहने के लिए किया गया हो जैसे - The only sun

“Whole” शब्द के पहले और “All” इस शब्द के बाद भी the इस article का use किया जाता है
जैसे - All the boys are here.

 Use of 'The'

जो अपनी तरह के एक हो - unique people/object – के साथ जैसे-The sun

जो विशेषण पूरे एक group या जाति का बोध कराते हो जैसे -The old

प्रसिद्ध buildings, museums और monuments के साथ जैसे -The Taj Mahal

Superlative degrees के साथ जैसे - The highest

Ordinal numbers के साथ जैसे - The last chapter

Adjective of Number (संख्यावाचक विशेषण)

"How many" (कितने) प्रश्न के उस उत्तर में होता है, जहाँ गिनती की जा सकती है।
यह बताता है कि कितने व्यक्तियों या वस्तुओं से हमारा अभिप्राय है या व्यक्ति या वस्तु किस क्रम में हैं। 
संख्या की जानकारी देने वाले इस विशेषण को Adjective of Number भी कहते हैं।
(Adjective of Number depicts the number of nouns or their position or place in a certain order.)

There are ten students in the classroom.
(कक्षा में 10 विद्यार्थी है।)
I stood first in class.
(मैं कक्षा में प्रथम आया।)
Saturday is the last day of the week.
(शनिवार सप्ताह का आखिरी दिन है।)

Noun के गुण या प्रकार को प्रकट करने वाले शब्द को adjective of quality या गुणवाचक विशेषण कहते हैं। जैसे =
New Delhi is a polluted city. (New Delhi किस प्रकार का शहर है - polluted)
He is an honest man. (वह कैसा आदमी हैं? - honest)
Adjective of quality "of what kind (किस प्रकार की)" या "कैसा" प्रश्न के उत्तर में आता है।

कुछ subjects - as well as , along with, together with, with, in addition to, like, unlike, but, except, besides etc जैसे शब्दों से जुड़े होता है। ऐसे वाक्यों के verbs इन शब्दों से पहले प्रयुक्त होने वाले subject के अनुसार Singular या plural होते है जैसे - 

Ram, as well as his parents, is coming.
The captain along with the sailors was drowned.
The politician along with the journalist is expected tomorrow.
Excitement, as well as nervousness, is the cause of her stutter.Mr. Ram, accompanied by his wife Sita and his brother, was banished to the forest.
