दिवाली के पश्चात smog दिल्ली के लिए एक ख़तरा बन गया है। यह सर्दियों की धुंध की तरह ही होती है पर असल में यह वह खतरनाक प्रदूषण है, जो हमें सांस और फेफड़ों से सम्बंधित कई बीमारियां देती हैं। इसे हिंदी में "धुआंसा" या "धूम कोहरा" कहते हैं।

Smog शब्द smoke और fog शब्दों से मिल कर बना है। Coinage of the term "smog" is generally attributed to Dr. Henry Antoine Des Voeux in his 1905 paper, "Fog and Smoke" for a meeting of the Public Health Congress. इस शब्द का उल्लेख 19th century से मध्य 20th century में लंदन में फैली गंभीर समस्या को बताने के लिए किया जाता था।
