The highest, The most, The best, The prettiest

→ Ordinal number के साथ जैसे - 
The last chapter, The first time, For the second time

→ ऐसे देश के नाम के साथ जिनमे kingdom, states or republic नाम आता हो जैसे -
The United States, The United Kingdom, The Republic of India

→ पर्वत श्रेणी (range of mountains) के नामों के पहले “The” का प्रयोग होता है

→ Group of islands के नामों के पहले “The” का प्रयोग होता है, जैसे- The West Indies, The Andaman, The East Indies

→ River, ocean, desert, forest इत्यादि के नामों के पहले “The” का प्रयोग होता है
जैसे- The Ganges, The Indian Ocean, The Bay of Bengal, The Sahara desert

→ Famous books के नाम के पहले “The”का प्रयोग होता है
जैसे- The Gita, The Bible

→ Unique people/object के नाम से पहले “The” का प्रयोग होता है
जैसे- The earth, The east, The air, The equator
(लेकिन Heaven, Hell, God तथा Parliament आदि शब्दों के साथ “The” का प्रयोग नहीं होता है)
