analogue ---- analog (ogue endings change to og)

dialogue ---- dialog

catalogue ---- catalog

cancelled ---- canceled (l endings do not double in US spellings)

counsellor ---- counselor

levelled ---- leveled

woollen ---- woolen

enrol ---- enroll (Some British English words ending in one 'l' may have double 'll' in the USA spelling)

fulfil ---- fulfill

skilful ---- skillful

wilful ---- willful

encyclopaedia ---- encyclopedia (ae and oe words change to e)

diarrhoea ---- diarrhea

anaemia ---- anemia

authorise ---- authorize (ise endings change to ize)

civilise ---- civilize

organise ---- organize

realise ---- realize

recognise ---- recognize

colour or color?

दोनों में से कौन सी spelling गलत है ये बताना बहुत ही आसान है। color गलत लिखा है। पर नहीं। यह भी सही spelling है। हमने अभी तक colour spelling ही सही माना था और color लिखने पर school में गलत कर दिया जाता था। पर अब नहीं। यह confusion शुरू हुआ British English और American English की वजह से। From last few years, we are more drawn towards American English rather than British English.

Today and in later posts, we will see the differences between British English and American English spelling: (Remember both spellings are correct in today's context)

behaviour ---- behavior ( 'our' endings change to 'or')

colour ---- color

favourite ---- favorite

flavour ---- flavor

honour ---- honor

labour ---- labor

neighbour ---- neighbor

amphitheatre ---- amphitheater (re endings change to er)

centre ---- center

kilometre ---- kilometer

litre ---- liter

theatre ---- theater

As graceful as a swan: The dancer was as graceful as a swan. (नर्तकी एक हंस के समान आकर्षक थी।)

As light as a feather: Her new mobile was as light as a feather. (उसका नया मोबाइल पंख की तरह हल्का था।)

As loud as thunder: The sound of the bomb blast was as loud as thunder. (बम विस्फोट की आवाज़ बिजली की गड़गड़ाहट की तरह तेज थी।)
