रंगों का हमारे जीवन में बहुत महत्त्व है। हम प्रायः 12 रंगों को ही जानते हैं पर आज के आधुनिक समय में इन 12 रंगों के मिश्रण से कई और नए रंगों को बनाया गया है। आज इन्हीं modern colors के नाम को सही बोलना सीखते हैं जिन्हें designer boutique, cosmetics shops और paints की shop पर हम देखते हैं।

FUCHSIA - फ्यूशा (bright, purplish-red color)

TURQUOISE - टर-कोइज़ (greenish blue or bluish green color)

BEIGE - बेज (very light brown or light grey with a brownish tinge)

CRIMSON - क्रिम-सन (rich deep red color that has a hint of purple)

CYAN - सा-यान (a shade of blue color with a hint of green)

MAROON - मरून (dark brownish-red color in which the brown overpowers the shades of red)

DANDELION - डैंड-अ-लायन (a shade of yellow color)

EMERALD - एम-रल्ड (bright green colour)

MAUVE- मोव (a pale bluish purple colour)

NEVER USE “TO” AFTER “ARRIVE”:

"to" का प्रयोग "arrive" के बाद करना गलत है। जैसे -

Don’t say:

We arrived to the airport.

When will you arrive to New Delhi?

सही वाक्य है -

We arrived at the airport./ We got to the airport.

When will you arrive in Rome?

NEVER USE “TO” AFTER SHOULD, COULD, WOULD, MUST, CAN, WILL

Don’t say:

You should to read more books.

I must to take this medicine.

could, should, would, must, can, or will के साथ हमेशा verb की base form का प्रयोग होता है। पर "need/ able" के साथ हम "to" का प्रयोग करते हैं।

I need to take this medicine.

She is able to buy a car.

NEVER USE “TO” AFTER PREVENT / STOP

Don’t say: The locked door prevents/stops people to enter.

सही वाक्य है: The locked door prevents/stops people from entering.

(prevent/ stop + person/object + from + -ING form of the verb)

WORTH ONE’S SALT

Meaning: To be efficient or competent in your job/profession.(अपनी नौकरी / काम /  पेशे में कुशल या सक्षम होना )

Origin: In Roman times, and throughout the Middle Ages, salt was a valuable commodity and was also referred to as “white gold.” नमक की इतनी value होने का कारण यह था की इसका प्रयोग meat और अन्य खाद्य सामग्री को preserve करने में किया जाता था ।
इसी कारण Roman soldiers को कभी कभी वेतन के रूप में नमक दिया जाता था । यूँ कहें कि जो वेतन उन्हें मिलता था उसका प्रयोग मुख्य रूप से नमक खरीदने में किया जाता था। इसी कारण salary को salt money भी कहा जाता था।

We don’t get salt as salary anymore but somehow, 'salt' is equivalent to something that a person gets as a salary for his job.  
Thus, to be 'worth one's salt' is to be worth one's pay/salary.
यदि आप अपना काम करने में कुशल हैं, तो निश्चित रूप से आप अपने वेतन के हक़दार हैं।

Uses:

This phrase is used to compliment someone for his/her work, skills, efficiency, etc.

• Any accountant worth their salt should be aware of the latest changes in taxation. (किसी सक्षम अकाउंटेंट को कराधान में नवीनतम परिवर्तनों के बारे में पता होना चाहिए।)
• Any political leader worth his/her salt fulfils the promises made during the election campaign. (कोई भी कुशल नेता चुनाव प्रचार के दौरान किये अपने वादों को पूरा करता है।)
