अंग्रेज़ी में बहुत से शब्द ऐसे हैं जिनका प्रयोग हम अनावश्यक तरीके से हर जगह करते हैं। ऐसा नहीं है कि वे शब्द गलत हैं पर उन शब्दों की जगह अन्य शब्द उन feelings को अधिक प्रभावशाली तरीके से बता सकते है। कई बार हम VERY शब्द का प्रयोग बहुत से adjectives के साथ करते हैं, अपनी भाषा को प्रभावशाली बनाने के लिए उन शब्दों की जगह (VERY + adjective) हम अन्य शब्द भी प्रयोग कर सकते हैं। जैसे -

She is very cute. SAY She is very adorable.

(very cute → adorable)

She made a very fast recovery. SAY She made a swift recovery.

(very fast → swift)

Rohan is a very shy boy. SAY Rahul is a timid boy.

(very shy → timid)

My father got very angry by seeing my marks. SAY My father got furious by seeing my marks.

(very angry → furious)

Samy is looking very bad today. SAY Samy is looking awful today.

(very bad → awful)

I went to a very fancy hotel for dinner. SAY I went to a lavish hotel for dinner.

(very fancy → lavish)

Her vote is very important at this time. SAY Her vote is crucial at this time.

(very important → crucial)

The share market is very slow. SAY The share market is sluggish.

(very slow → sluggish)

'Too bad' का अर्थ है means regrettable (पछतावा करने योग्य) या unfortunate (दुर्भाग्य).  वाक्य में इसका प्रयॊग जो कार्य हो चुका है, उसके लिए अपनी चिंता या खेद जताने के लिए किया जाता है। हो सकता है वह घटना आपके साथ घटित हुई हो, जिससे आप बात कर रहे हैं - उनके साथ या किसी अन्य व्यक्ति के साथ जो बातचीत के समय वहां उपलब्ध ना हो। जैसे -

It's too bad that she lost her job. (यह बहुत बुरा है कि उसने अपनी नौकरी खो दी।)

It's too bad that he has to leave the house. (यह बहुत बुरा है उसे घर छोड़ना पड़ेगा।)

It's too bad that she found out the secret. (यह बहुत बुरा है कि उसे राज का पता चला।)

It's too bad we will not be there on time. (यह बहुत बुरा है कि हम वहाँ समय पर नहीं होंगे।)

It's too bad that all tickets are already sold for Bahubali 2. (यह बहुत बुरा है कि बाहुबली 2 की सभी टिकट पहले से ही बिक चुकी है।)

It's too bad that it is supposed to rain. (यह बहुत बुरा है कि शायद बारिश होने वाली है।)

It's too bad that she met with an accident. (यह बहुत बुरा है कि उसकी दुर्घटना हो गई।)

It's too bad that you do not understand. (यह बहुत बुरा है कि आप नहीं समझते।)

a priori: निगमनात्मक/ पहले से (based on theoretical deduction from previous facts or experiences)

These are a priori assumptions about human nature. (ये मानवीय स्वभाव के बारे में पहले से ही पूर्वानुमान हैं।)

au fait:  अभ्यस्त/ जानकार/ के प्रति सचेत (to be up-to-date and well-acquainted with something/ possessing considerable or intimate knowledge of something)

You should be au fait with the company and its products. (आपको कंपनी और उसके उत्पादों के प्रति सचेत होना चाहिए।)

par excellence: सर्वोत्कृष्ट (the very best, surpassing all others)

Shikha is the charitable lady par excellence. (शिखा सर्वोत्कृष्ट परोपकारी महिला है।)

persona non grata:  अस्वीकार्य या अवांछित व्यक्ति (a person who is not welcome)

Duryodhana was persona non grata for the regime. (दुर्योधन शासन के लिए अवांछित व्यक्ति था।)

post-mortem: शव-परीक्षा (an examination of a dead body to determine the cause of death or an event after its occurrence to find out why it failed)

The hospital authorities want to carry out a post-mortem. (अस्पताल के अधिकारी शव परीक्षण करवाना चाहते हैं।)

prima facie: प्रत्यक्ष/ प्रथम दृष्टि में/ पहली नज़र में सच मान लेना  (at first sight/ accepted as true until proved otherwise)

They had, prima facie, a legitimate complaint. (उनकी प्रथम नजर में, उनकी एक वैध शिकायत थी।)

They have prima facie evidence. (उनके पास पहली नज़र में सच मान लेने वाले सबूत है।)

Necessity is the mother of invention. (आवश्यकता ही आविष्कार की जननी है।)

यह English proverb लम्बे समय से प्रयोग होता रहा है। इसके मूल लेखक की विषय में सही सही तो नहीं पता पर Great Greek Philosopher, Plato द्वारा इसका प्रयोग बहुत बार किया गया था।

कहा जाता है जब तक हमें किसी चीज़ की सख़्त जरूरत नहीं पड़ती, तब तक उससे पाने के लिए हम मेहनत नहीं करते। हम उस वस्तु को पाने के लिए अपनी साड़ी ताकत लगा देते हैं। इसी असंतुष्ट प्रकृति के कारण दुनिया की कुछ महान वस्तुओं का आविष्कार हुआ। When we are really in need, we think of creative solutions to our problems. अर्थात आवश्यकता मनुष्य को आविष्कार के लिए अपनी शक्ति का इस्तेमाल करने के लिए मजबूर करती है।

पुराने समय में लोगों के पास अपनी रक्षा करने के लिए घर नहीं थे। इसलिए उन्होंने घरों का निर्माण किया। इसी तरह कपड़े और भोजन की अत्यधिक जरूरतों ने मनुष्य को मजबूर किया कि वह कपड़े बनाये और फसल उगाए। Men have invented fire and agriculture to satisfy their need. दूर बैठे मित्रों और रिश्तेदारों से बात करने की आवश्यकता ने telephone, वायरलेस फोन और satellite communication system आविष्कार को बढ़ावा दिया। इसके अलावा, हमेशा अन्य लोगों के साथ संपर्क में रहने की आवश्यकता ने मोबाइल फोन और इंटरनेट के आविष्कार का रास्ता दिखाया।

इसलिए यह कहना गलत नहीं होगा - Necessity creates an urge in the human mind to make efforts to invent something new. It is, therefore, rightly said, “Necessity is the mother of invention.”
