Final (अंत) : Final किसी भी चीज़ के अंत को दर्शाता है। Final किसी टूर्नामेंट के आखिरी खेल (जो समग्र विजेता तय करता है) और परीक्षाओं (जो प्रतिवर्ष आयोजित होती है) के सन्दर्भ में प्रयोग किया जाता है। Final (an English word) किसी एक मैच, खेल या संगीत कार्यक्रम के अंतिम दौर को दर्शाता है। Final आमतौर पर तय होता है और एक निश्चित समय और तारीख पर होता है, जबकि Finale किसी समापन समारोह को संदर्भित करता है। उदहारण स्वरुप - "final" विश्व कप के अंतिम मैच का विशिष्ट नाम है। चूंकि यह इस खेल के आयोजन की पराकाष्ठा है , हम कह सकते हैं -

The World Cup Final is the finale of the World Cup. (विश्व कप फाइनल विश्व कप का समापन है।)

Finale (समापन) : Finale (an Italian word) किसी संगीत कार्यक्रम के समापन हिस्से या symphony जहां कलाकार तेजी से पहुँचता है, को दर्शाता है। Finale किसी भी reality show का अंतिम दौर होता है जो उस शो के विजेता का फैसला करता है या फिर यह दर्शाता है कि वह प्रदर्शन तेजी से समापन की ओर बढ़ रहा है।

हालांकि Final और Finale के अर्थ लगभग समान है पर इन दोनों शब्दों के उपयोग अलग अलग है।हम दोनों शब्दों को interchange नहीं कर सकते। जैसे -

Ashwin bowled the final over of the match. (अश्विन ने मैच के अंतिम ओवर में गेंदबाजी की।)(Ashwin bowled the finale over of the match. बोलना गलत है।)

Everyone enjoyed the grand finale of The Comedy Nights with Kapil. (सभी ने कॉमेडी नाइट्स विथ कपिल के भव्य समापन समारोह का आनंद लिया।) (Everyone enjoyed the grand final of The Comedy Nights with Kapil.बोलना गलत है।)

Altar - Alter

altar (noun) - वेदी/ टेबल जिसपर भगवान पर चढ़ाने वाली सामग्रियाँ रखी जाती है (An altar is an area of religious worship/ A table or flat surface where religious rituals take place)

Examples:

The ancient Britons used to sacrifice animals on stone altars. (प्राचीन ब्रिटेन जानवरों के बलिदान के लिए पत्थर की वेदियों का इस्तेमाल करता था।)

The family approached the altar where the priest stood. (परिवार ने वेदी पर जहां पुजारी खड़ा था, संपर्क किया।)

alter (verb) - बदल देना  (to change something.)

Examples:

Will you alter this dress for Saturday's play? (क्या आप शनिवार के नाटक के लिए इस पोशाक में बदलाव जार देंगे।)

The advent of the automobile may have altered the growth pattern of the city. (ऑटोमोबाइल के आगमन से शहर का विकास स्वरूप परिवर्तित हो सकता है।)

As brittle as glass (शीशे जैसा टूटने वाला)
