pro forma: प्रारूप (as a matter of form)

He was given a pro forma copy of a document. (उसे दस्तावेज का एक प्रारूप दिया गया था।)

pro rata: यथानुपात (in proportion)

As the rupee has fallen costs have risen on a pro rata basis. (रुपए की कीमत गिरने से कीमतों में यथानुपात बढ़ोतरी हुई है।)

quid pro quo: मुआवज़ा/ बदले में (something that is given or done in exchange for something else)

The pardon was a quid pro quo for their help in releasing hostages. (माफी बंधकों को छोड़ने में उनकी मदद के बदले में थी।)

raison d'etre: उद्देश्य/ अस्तित्व का कारण (reason something exists or is done)

My company's raison d'être is always ]serving the community as with generating profits. (मुनाफा पैदा करने के साथ मेरी कंपनी का उद्देश्य हमेशा ही समुदाय की सेवा करना रहा है।)

sine die: अनिश्चित काल के लिए (indefinitely)

After the heated argument, the House has adjourned sine die by the President.

उत्तेजित तर्क के बाद, राष्ट्रपति द्वारा सदन अनिश्चित काल के लिएस्थगित कर दिया है।

sine qua non: अनिवार्य शर्त (something that is absolutely essential; indispensable condition)

Freedom of speech and expression is a sine qua non of the functioning of a democratic polity.

Mr Right - महिला के लिए आदर्श जीवन साथी (a woman’s ideal marriage partner)

I think you're waiting for Mr Right. (मुझे लगता है कि आप मिस्टर राइट की प्रतीक्षा कर रही हैं।)

Put someone/something right - गलत समझे गए विचार को सही करना (to correct a mistaken idea)

Serve (someone) right - बिल्कुल योग्य सबक होना (to be what someone deserves)

It would serve you right if you lost your money. (यदि आप अपना पैसा खो देते हैं तो यह आपके लिए बिलकुल योग्य सबक होगा।)

Two wrongs don’t make a right - गलत हमेशा गलत होता है चाहे वो सब करे या कोई एक (A second error does not cancel a first)

Why did you tell all those lies? Are you in your right mind? (आपने वे सभी झूठ क्यों बोले? क्या आप समझदार है?)

Be not in your right mind - मानसिक रूप से स्वस्थ/ तर्कसंगत ना होना (to be not thinking clearly or to be mentally ill)

My old granny isn't in her right mind half the time. (मेरी बूढ़ी दादी आधे समय मानसिक रूप से स्वस्थ नहीं रहती।)

In the right - सही, नैतिक या कानूनी रूप से सही (to be legally or morally correct)

I think that driver was in the right. He stopped at the traffic lights. (मुझे लगता है कि ड्राइवर सही था। वह ट्रैफिक लाइट पर रुका था।)

NEVER USE “TO” AFTER “ARRIVE”:

"to" का प्रयोग "arrive" के बाद करना गलत है। जैसे -

Don’t say:

We arrived to the airport.

When will you arrive to New Delhi?

सही वाक्य है -

We arrived at the airport./ We got to the airport.

When will you arrive in Rome?

NEVER USE “TO” AFTER SHOULD, COULD, WOULD, MUST, CAN, WILL

Don’t say:

You should to read more books.

I must to take this medicine.

could, should, would, must, can, or will के साथ हमेशा verb की base form का प्रयोग होता है। पर "need/ able" के साथ हम "to" का प्रयोग करते हैं।

I need to take this medicine.

She is able to buy a car.

NEVER USE “TO” AFTER PREVENT / STOP

Don’t say: The locked door prevents/stops people to enter.

सही वाक्य है: The locked door prevents/stops people from entering.

(prevent/ stop + person/object + from + -ING form of the verb)
