Affect और Effect के बीच में confusion होना बहुत आम है क्योंकि ये दोनों words लिखने और बोलने में almost एक समान हैं।
Well, let’s clear the confusion, once and for all.

AFFECT का प्रयोग सामान्यतः एक क्रिया के रूप में किया जाता है जिसका अर्थ है ‘प्रभावित करना’ या ‘बदलाव लाना’।
EFFECT शब्द को आमतौर पर एक संज्ञा की तरह प्रयोग किया जाता है जिसका अर्थ है ‘वो परिवर्तन या नतीजा जो आपको एक क्रिया के पूरा हो जाने के बाद मिलता है’।

Simple शब्दों में कहा जाए तो AFFECT होता है किसी काम का असर और EFFECT होता है उस असर के होने से उत्पन्न हुआ परिणाम।

Example:
• Demonetization will definitely affect the tourism sector.
(विमुद्रीकरण निश्चित रूप से पर्यटन क्षेत्र को प्रभावित करेगा।)

• Demonetization had an unfavourable effect on the tourism sector.
 (विमुद्रीकरण का पर्यटन क्षेत्र पर प्रतिकूल प्रभाव पड़ा।)

जहाँ पहले sentence में demonetization के भविष्य में होने वाले असर की बात की गयी है, वहीं दुसरे sentence में demonetization हो जाने के end result यानि प्रभाव को बताया गया है।

यदि आपको परिभाषा और नियम याद रखने में दिक्कत होती है तो आप affect और effect के बीच का अंतर इस तरह भी याद कर सकते हैं:

English alphabet series में ‘A’ letter (= Affect) पहले आता है और ‘E’ (= Effect ) बाद में।
ठीक उसी तरह प्रभावित करने वाला काम (यानि AFFECT) हमेशा पहले होता है और उसका असर या प्रभाव (यानि EFFECT) बाद में।

Dressed IN (not WITH)
• The people at the funeral were all dressed with white. – Incorrect
• The people at the funeral were all dressed in white. – Correct
(अंतिम संस्कार के समय सभी सफ़ेद रंग (के कपड़े) पहने हुए थे।)
Dressed के बाद with नहीं in preposition का use होगा। Dressed in (sth) का मतलब है- wearing something(कुछ पहने हुए)

Independent OF (not FROM)
• I did a part-time job because I wanted to be financially independent from my parents- Incorrect
• I did a part-time job because I wanted to be financially independent of my parents- Correct
(मैंने एक पार्ट-टाईम नौकरी की क्योंकि मैं अपने माता-पिता से वित्तीय रूप से स्वतंत्र होना चाहता था।)
Independent के बाद 'from' नहीं 'of' preposition का use होगा।
To be independent of (sb/sth) का मतलब है – किसी पर निर्भर न होना या आत्मनिर्भर होना।

However, Dependent के बाद 'on' का use किया जाता है। Dependent on का मतलब है – निर्भर होना।
• A child is dependent on its parents. (एक बच्चा अपने माता-पिता पर निर्भर है।)
