Irregular Plural Nouns - 1


English language में हर noun केवल अंत में -s या -es जोड़कर एकवचन से बहुवचन में नहीं बदला जा सकता।Certain nouns follow different patterns:

life - lives

wife    - wives

calf - calves

leaf - leaves

shelf - shelves

thief - thieves

loaf - loaves

elf - elves

half - halves

Learn to use 'THOUGH'


To express contrast
• Though I liked the sweater, I did not buy it. (हालांकि मुझे स्वेटर पसंद आया, मैंने उसे नहीं ख़रीदा।)

Note: The same sentence can be said/written with ‘though’ at the end and it would not change the meaning.
• I liked the sweater. I decided not to buy it, though.
• Though they were talking in undertones, I could hear them. (हालांकि वे धीमी आवाज़ में बात कर रहे थे, मैं उन्हें सुन सकता था।)

To be used with ‘even’ (अपनी बात पर ज़ोर देने के लिए )
• Even though you don’t like her, you should try to be nice to her. (भले ही आप उसे पसंद नहीं करते, आपको उसके साथ अच्छा बन कर रहना चाहिए।)
• I wore my coat, even though it wasn’t very cold outside. (मैंने अपना coat पहन लिया, भले ही बाहर ज़्यादा ठण्ड नही थी ।)
NOTE: Even though is a stronger form of although.

To be used with ‘as’
As though = As if = जैसे की, मानो
• He behaved as though/as if nothing has happened. (उसने ऐसे व्यवहार किया जैसे कि कुछ हुआ ही नहीं है।)
• She ran so fast as though/as if she was being chased by a ghost. (वह इतनी तेज़ी से भागी, मानो उसके पीछे भूत लग गया हो।)

'VERY' का प्रयोग करने से बचें - 2


VERY SLOW = SLUGGISH
• The share market has been very slow these past few years.
• The share market has been sluggish these past few years. (पिछले कुछ सालों से शेयर बाज़ार बहुत धीमा रहा है।)

VERY FAST = SWIFT
• She made a very fast recovery after the operation.
• She made a swift recovery after the operation. (वह ऑपरेशन के बाद बहुत जल्दी स्वस्थ हालात में आ गयी।)

VERY DIRTY = FILTHY
• The rooms in that hospital were very dirty.
• The rooms in that hospital were filthy. (उस अस्पताल में कमरे बहुत गंदे थे।)

VERY CALM = SERENE
• Doing yoga in open air makes my mind very calm.
• Doing yoga in open air makes my mind serene. (खुली हवा में योग करने से मेरा मन शांत हो जाता है।)

VERY TIRED = EXHAUSTED
• I can’t come to the party, I’m very tired.
• I can’t come to the party, I’m exhausted. (मैं पार्टी में नहीं आ सकता, मैं बहुत थक गया हूं।)

VERY SHY = TIMID

• Sam is a very shy boy.

• Sam is a timid boy. (Sam एक बहुत ही शर्मीला लड़का है।)


VERY ANGRY = FURIOUS

• My mum gets very angry when I don’t clean my room.

• My mum gets furious when I don’t clean my room. (जब मैं अपना कमरा साफ नहीं करता, तो मेरी मां बहुत क्रोधित हो जाती हैं।)


VERY CUTE = ADORABLE

• Your daughter is very cute.

• Your daughter is adorable. (आपकी बेटी बहुत प्यारी है।)


VERY BAD = AWFUL

• The weather is very bad today.

• The weather is awful today. (आज मौसम बहुत बुरा है।)


VERY IMPORTANT = CRUCIAL

• Your opinion is very important in this matter.

• Your opinion is crucial in this matter. (इस मामले में आपकी राय बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है।)
