जब एक ‘verb’ यानी क्रिया को किसी दूसरे element, जैसे कि क्रिया-विशेषण (adverb) या पूर्वसर्ग (preposition) या फिर दोनों, के साथ combine कर एक अर्थपूर्ण वाक्यांश बनाया जाता है, तो उसे PHRASAL VERB कहते हैं।

Phrasal verbs कोई अनोखा concept नहीं है, बल्कि आप जाने-अनजाने प्रतिदिन बातचीत के दौरान अनेकों phrasal verbs का प्रयोग करते हैं।
Let's learn to incorporate the phrasal verb 'GET IN' inour daily conversation.

'GET IN' के निम्नलिखित अर्थ हैं:

To arrive at some place like home or an office
• What time did you get in last night?
(कल रात तुम किस वक़्त घर वापस आए थे?)

The time a vehicle like a train or an aeroplane arrives
• The plane going to London will get in at 5 pm.
(लंदन जाने वाला विमान शाम 5 बजे तक आ जाएगा।)

To succeed in entering a place using force or a trick
• The thieves must have got in through the bathroom window.
( चोरों ने ज़रूर बाथरूम की खिड़की से अंदर प्रवेश किया होगा।)

To be elected in a political party
• Their party got in with 50% of the total votes.
(उनकी पार्टी 50% मतों से चुनी गयी।)

Drunk (नशे में) – Sober (शांत)

Expand (विस्तार) – Contract (सिकुड़ना)

Freeze (जमा देना) - Boil (उबलना)

Full (पूरा) – Empty (खाली)

Generous (उदार) – Stingy (कंजूस)

Giant (विशालकाय) – Dwarf (बौना)

Gloomy (उदास) – Cheerful (हंसमुख)

Guilty (दोषी) – Innocent (मासूम)

Hire (मजदूरी पर रखना) – Fire (नौकरी से बर्खास्त करना)

Include (सम्मिलित) – Exclude (असम्मिलित)
