AS THICK AS THIEVES

Meaning: ऐसे मित्र जो एक दूसरे के बहुत करीबी और वफादार हों, और एक दूसरे के सभी रहस्यों को जानते हों
(Friends who are very close and loyal to each other, and know all secrets of each other)

यह phrase दो लोगों के बीच की दोस्ती की intensity यानी घनिष्टता को व्यक्त करने के लिए उपयुक्त है।
First, you become friends, then best friends and then you become ‘thick as thieves’,  which is like the highest level of friendship.

Uses:
• Sam and Nancy are as thick as thieves and they go everywhere together.
(Sam और Nancy बहुत करीबी दोस्त हैं और वे हर जगह एक साथ जाते हैं।)

• I know him since childhood because our fathers were as thick as thieves.
(मैं उसे बचपन से जानता हूं क्योंकि हम दोनों के पिता एक दूसरे के घनिष्ट मित्र थे।)

BUDDY = An adorable term for a friend

MATE = it’s a British / Australian word for friend

CONFIDANT = Someone who you trust and tell all your secrets to

COMRADE = Refers to a respected associate who is also your friend (mostly used as a military term)

ACQUAINTANCE = A colleague or someone who helps you in your work

CHUMS = Funny word to refer to close friends

PAL = A close friend who is also like a brother.

FELLA = Taken from the word ‘fellow’, fella is used to refer to a man or a boyfriend

BESTIE = A slang for best friend, commonly used by girls.

BFF = It’s an abbreviation of ‘Best Friends Forever’

बहुत से लोगों के इसमें confusion रहती है कि ‘time’ शब्द के साथ ‘ON’ या ‘IN’ का सही प्रयोग कैसे करना चाहिए। आइए इस confusion को दूर करें,

IN TIME
= in stipulated time period
यदि आप निर्धारित समय अवधी के भीतर किसी कार्य को पूरा कर लेते हैं तो उसे दर्शाने के लिए ‘in time’ का use किया जाता है।
• I couldn't complete my work in time.(मैं समय पर अपना काम पूरा नहीं कर सका।)

In time also means that something happened at the last moment before it was too late . यहाँ आप ‘just in time’ का भी प्रयोग कर सकते हैं।
• He reached the station just in time to catch his train.(वह ट्रेन छूटने से ठीक पहले स्टेशन पहुँच गया।)

ON TIME
= at the exact or decided time
‘On time’ का use दर्शाता है कि कार्य को exact point of time यानी निश्चित या नियोजित समय पर किया गया है। यहां समय की अवधि के बजाय सटीक समय पर बल दिया जाता है।
Suppose आपने दोस्त को किसी जगह बजे मिलने के लिए 12 बजे का समय दिया है और यदि आप वहां ठीक 12 बजे पहुँच जाते हैं, तो इसका अर्थ है: 'you reached there on time'

अगर एक व्यक्ति के लिए कहा जाए कि 'he is always on time', तब उसका अर्थ है की वह बहुत punctual यानी समय का पाबंध है और हमेशा नियोजित समय पर पहुँच जाता है।
However, if you have a friend who is always late, then you say: ‘he is never on time’

AT NIGHT or IN NIGHT

रात के समय को दर्शाने के लिए ‘at night’ का प्रयोग होता है।
I like to roam around in night.
I like to roam around at night.
(मुझे रात को बाहर घूमना पसंद है।)

WELCOME TO or WELCOME IN

किसी मेहमान का स्वागत करने के लिए ‘welcome’ का use किया जाता है परंतु ‘welcome in’ कहना गलत है।
Welcome in our country.
Welcome to our country.
(हमारे देश में आपका स्वागत है।)

SENIOR TO or SENIOR THAN

Seniority दर्शाने के लिए हमेशा ‘senior to’ का use करना चाहिए।
Amy is senior than me.
Amy is senior to me.
(Amy मुझ से वरिष्ठ है।)
