कुछ कार्य हमारे लिए करना आवश्यक होता है। परन्तु वे कार्य करना किस हद तक जरूरी हैं, अंग्रेज़ी में उसे व्यक्त करने के लिए अलग अलग शब्दों का प्रयोग किया जाता है। हर बार IMPORTANT/ NECESSARY शब्द का प्रयोग करना उचित नहीं होगा। अतः कार्य की अनिवार्यता को देखते हुए शब्दों का चयन करना अति आवश्यक है। आइये कुछ ऐसे ही शब्द सीखें -

necessary - something that you need to have or do (अनिवार्य/ आवश्यक)

essential - very important and necessary (अत्यावश्यक)

vital - extremely important and necessary (अत्यावश्यक और महत्तवपूर्ण)

compulsory - that must be done because of a law or a rule (बाध्यकर)

obligatory - that must be done because of a law or a rule (obligatory is more formal that compulsory) (बाध्यकर)

mandatory - that must be done because of a law (Mandatory is stronger than compulsory) (अनिवार्य)

requisite - necessary for a particular purpose (आवश्यक वस्तु)

Smells can be of various types, some good, some pleasant and some not-so-pleasant.
आज हम बात करते हैं अलग-अलग प्रकार की दुर्गंध को व्यक्त करने वाले शब्दों के बारे में।

STINK (स्टिंक)
A strong unpleasant smell (बहुत ही अप्रिय गंध)

REEK (रीक)
A foul smell coming out of someone (किसी के अंदर से आने वाली दुर्गन्ध )

ACRID (ऐक्रिड)
A strong unpleasant smell that also creates a bitter taste in your throat (एक मजबूत अप्रिय गंध जो आपके गले में भी एक कड़वा सा स्वाद पैदा कर दे)

FETID ( फेटिड)
Used to describe the unpleasant smell of water or air, usually caused due to decay. (सदन के कारण आने वाली पानी या हवा की अप्रिय गंध )

PUNGENT (पन्जन्ट)
A very sharp and strong smell, usually unpleasant (बहुत ही तेज व अप्रिय दुर्गंध)

MUSTY (मस्टी)
Smell that is damp, not fresh or mouldy in nature (सीलन जैसी दुर्गंध)

PUTRID (प्यूट्रिड)
A repulsive rotting or decaying smell of food or any other such thing (भोजन या कोई अन्य चीज के सड़ने की दुर्गंध )

In kind - उसी तरह से (In the same way)

• If he responded positively, they would respond in kind. (अगर उसने सकारात्मक प्रतिक्रिया दी, वे उसी तरह से प्रतिक्रिया देंगे।)

One's (own) kind - लोग जिनमें बहुत कुछ समान हो (People with whom one has a great deal in common)

• We stick with our own kind. (हम अपने समान लोगों के साथ रहते हैं।)

Someone's kind - किसी ख़ास प्रकार के व्यक्तियों के लिए अस्वीकृति व्यक्त करना (Used to express disapproval of a certain type of person)

• I don’t apologize to her kind ever. (मैंने उस तरह की व्यक्ति से कभी माफी माँगता हूँ।

Kind of - बल्कि ; कुछ हद तक (Rather; to some extent)

• It got kind of cosy. (यह कुछ हद तक आरामदायक मिला है।)

A kind of - कुछ मिलता-जुलता (Something resembling)

• This is based on a kind of inspired guesswork. (यह प्रेरित अटकलबाजी से मिलते जुलते कुछ पर आधारित है।)

Nothing of the kind - बलपूर्वक इनकार व्यक्त करना (Used to express an emphatic denial)

• My son had done nothing of the kind before. (मेरे बेटे ने पहले ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं किया था।)

Of its kind - अपनी श्रेणियों के भीतर (Within the limitations of its class)

• This new building was no doubt excellent of its kind. (कोई संदेह नहीं कि यह नई इमारत में अपनी श्रेणी में बहुत अच्छी तरह का था।)

One of a kind - अद्वितीय (Unique)

• Usain Bolt's achievement remains one of a kind. (उसैन बोल्ट की उपलब्धि अद्वितीय बनी हुई है।)

OFTEN - औ-फन (not ऑफ्टन - इस शब्द में T - silent है।)
Meaning: Repetitive (अक्सर, बार-बार होना )

CHAOS - के-आस (not चा-ओस - इस शब्द में CH को क pronounce किया जाता है।)
Meaning: Complete disorder and confusion (अव्यवस्था/ गड़बड़ी)

EPITOME - एपि-टमी (not एपिटोम - इस शब्द में O - silent है।)
Meaning: A perfect example or summary (प्रतिमान/ सारांश)

RECEIPT - रिसीट (not रिसीप्ट - P is a silent letter)
Meaning: A written proof of something that you have received (आपके द्वारा प्राप्त की गई किसी चीज का एक लिखित प्रमाण / रसीद )

DATA - डेटा (not डाटा)
Meaning: A collection of probably facts and statistics (तथ्यों और आंकड़ों का एक संग्रह)

COLLEAGUE - कौ-लीग (not कालीग)
Meaning: A person who is your work associate (सहकर्मी/ सहकार्यकर्ता)

DETERMINE - डि-टर्मिन (not डी- टर-माईन)
Meaning: To decide or establish ( तय करना / निश्चित करना )

EITHER - ईदर (not आइदर)
Meaning: Used to indicate a choice between two things/ one or the other (दो में से कोई एक)
