Calling the shots = to take all the decisions or to order ( सभी फैसले लेना या हुक्म चलाना )
• Do not argue with me, I call the shots here. (मेरे साथ बहस मत करो, यहाँ सभी निर्णय मै लेता हूँ।)

Call it a day = to complete a day’s work ( किसी एक दिन का काम खत्म करना )
• The boss was mad because Tom called it a day at noon and went home. (बॉस गुस्से में था क्योंकि टॉम ने दोपहर में ही) काम ख़त्म कर लिया और अपने घर चला गया ।

Call it quits = to stop doing something or to resign from something ( किसी काम को करना बंद कर देना या इस्तीफा देना )
• The relationship had been going from bad to worse and we just decided it was time to call it quits. (रिश्ता बद से बद्तर होता जा रहा था और हमने फैसला किया कि यही समय है इसे समाप्त करने का ।)

Call down = to reprimand/scold a person ( किसी को फटकार या डांट लगाना )
• My dance coach is a perfectionist and he calls me down on every little mistake that I make. (मेरे नृत्य कोच एक perfectionist हैं और वह मुझे मेरी हर छोटी गलती पर डांटते हैं।)

Call on = ask or demand somebody to do something ( किसी को कुछ करने के लिए अनुरोध या मांग करना )
• I called on George for his help, but he refused. (मैंने George से मदद के लिए पूछा, लेकिन उसने मना कर दिया।)

Call (someone) back = to return a phone call ( वापिस फ़ोन करना )
• Call me back whenever you get time? (जब भी आपको समय मिले, मुझे वापिस कॉल करें ।)

Call off = to cancel ( रद्द करना )
• Due to some reasons, we had to call off this project. (कुछ कारणों की वजह से हमे इस परियोजना को रद्द करना पड़ा।)

Pay (someone) a call = To visit someone ( किसी से मिलने जाना )
• My grandparents pay us a call every two months.(मेरे दादा दादी हमें हर दो महीने पर मिलने आते हैं।)

Call someone’s bluff = Expose someone’s deception ( किसी के धोखे का पर्दाफाश करना )
•  The atmosphere got a little tense after Sam called Amy’s bluff in front of everyone. (माहौल थोड़ा तनावपूर्ण होगया जब Sam ने सबके सामने Amy का पर्दाफाश किया ।)

Wake-up call = A sign or warning that alerts you (एक संकेत या चेतावनी जो आपको सचेत कर दे )
• My father’s heart attack is a huge wake-up call for him about his unhealthy lifestyle. (मेरे पिता को दिल का दौर पड़ना उनकी अस्वस्थ जीवन शैली की तरफ एक बड़ा चेतावनीपूर्ण संकेत है।)

GENERAL YET BETTER RESPONSE
Compliments मिलने पर आप अपनी ख़ुशी कुछ इस तरह ज़ाहिर कर सकते हैं:

• I’m glad/ pleased you like it. (मुझे खुशी है कि आपको यह पसंद आया।)
• Coming from you, this means a lot to me. (आपसे यह तारीफ़ सुनना मेरे लिए बहुत मायने रखता है।)

LEARN TO GIVE CREDIT
यदि तारीफ किसी ऐसी चीज़ की हो रही है जिसका श्रेय पूरी तरह आपको नहीं जाता है, वहां दुसरे को credit देना न भूलें:

• It’s lovely, isn’t it? My Friend helped me choose it. (यह प्यारा है ना? मेरे मित्र ने मुझे इसे चुनने में मदद की।)
•I love this too, It was a gift from my brother.(मुझे भी यह बहुत पसंद है, मेरे भाई ने मुझे यह तोहफे में दिया था।)

AGREE TO DISAGREE
There are times when we genuinely don’t want to accept a compliment because we don’t agree with it. In those cases, we can say something like:

• Oh, do you think so? I’m not that fond of it myself. (ओह, क्या आपको ऐसा लगता है? मैं खुद इसका कुछ ख़ास शौक़ीन नहीं हूं।)
• It’s kind of you to say so, but I think I could have done better. (आपका यह कहना मुझे बहुत अच्छा लगा, लेकिन मुझे लगता है कि मैं बेहतर कर सकता था। )
